Though we are a small charity, we do have our place in the ‘great scheme of things’, and we know from what our beneficiaries tell us that our grants have an immediate, positive impact on the well-being of the communities to which they are allocated.
To understand this in a little more depth, we need to take time to think of our role as a donor agency based in the ‘developed’ world with a single focus aimed at the non-industrialised, ‘developing’ world – insomuch as these terms may be deemed helpful and accurate.
The aim of this section of our website is to give a brief outline of how the concept of development, and the relationship between industrialised and non-industrialised and countries could be said to have passed through some three overall phases since the end of the Second World War. If you have ever thought beyond the assumption that ‘the poor will always be with us…’ you may find this of interest.
